Reader Ride. Stunner of a Custom Buell

Paul Shore send in this sweet Buell.

He Writes:
Here are some pictures of a buell that i built for my wife Ann. a bit of Ducati but more Buell = Bucati????
At break in, we had 100 bhp + 100 ftlb torque with another 1000 rpm to go and power / torque still climbing.
That was with the PSI series III 48 ( which actually measures 57mm across the throat ) lectron style carb. having some trouble with
the adjustment we opted to go to a mikuni HSR 48 flat slide which actually dropped power by 3% but adjustability seems much
easier / user friendly than the PSI.
Enjoy!

2010 Buell 1125R

Designed for the rider, the Buell® 1125R® breaks the convention of the liter-class superbike category, delivering a unique combination of engine performance, precise-and-agile handling, raw sound and performance in an innovative package.

In 2010 Buell continues to focus on the ride with the addition of features like front brake master cylinder piston seals and rotor mountings, LED taillights and rear turn signals, oxygen sensors and tyres, as well as new graphics and bodywork. Whether it’s the 1125cc Helicon® liquid-cooled, four-stroke, fuel-injected 72-degree V-Twin engine or the 1203cc Thunderstorm™ air/oil/fan-cooled, four-stroke, fuel-injected 45-degree V-Twin engine, Buell blends original design with productive power and dynamic performance for a light and tight ride.

Each Buell model is designed utilizing the Buell Trilogy of Technology™ – chassis rigidity, centralized mass, and low unsprung weight – to produce a motorcycle which responds instantly to rider input.

Buell 1125CR

Buell 1125CR, Buell, Sportbike
The overall 2009 Buell line-up consists of six models in three distinct lines: street, adventure and sportbike. Models vary by engine configuration and design intent but continue the melting pot culture that has grown to exemplify the “American” ideal.

Buell intended the day to be a focused moment on braking, cornering and acceleration as well as how the mapping updates performed on the Helicon engine.

The technical 1.67 mile track is more like the streets of willow than the big one over here in California –perfect for the steep-rake XB-like 1125CR. It doesn’t take anyone long to notice the CR hasn’t much in the way of air flow management, favoring a minimal windscreen similar to the XB model line. Without the big bubble to push away the high-speed atmosphere, head shakes are eminent and achievable above the tonnage mark indicated on the digital speedo. The “quiet zone” as Buell calls the space behind the fairing of the 1125R is now gone, leaving you more exposed to the elements. This is where fashion wins over function – your inner hooligan can’t hide from the aero forces on the CR. It’s built for fun, not racing. Big speed however doesn’t completely ruin the fun.

Buell Ulysses XB12X

Buell Ulysses XB12X,

With long-travel suspension, generous 171mm ground clearance, and aggressive Pirelli Scorpion Sync tyres, the Buell Ulysses XB12X can carry its rider over dirt, gravel and other unpaved road surfaces. On smooth pavement, the XB12X is a high-performance sport motorcycle, ready to blitz through the twisties.

Wide Supermoto style handlebars gives the rider extra leverage and control behind wind deflectors and a two-piece windscreen designed to limit buffeting. The broad, torque-laden powerband of the 94-hp Buell Thunderstorm 1203cc V-Twin engine gives the Ulysses the ability to proceed at lower speeds over unpaved roads with less gear shifting, and the power to bomb down paved backroads.

The trick to riding the Buell is keeping the Thunderstorm V-Twin revving between 3500 to 7000 rpm where it is the most responsive and potent. Check out more at Motorcycle-USA.com
