A Question/Special Request for info from the MPOD followers!
I have a special request from Matt for a bike for his wife. I have to admit that I'm a bit stumped on this one. My wife is 5'0" also and I can't think of a bike that would fit her frame to the specs that Matt is looking for. Any bike that might work would still have to be lowered quite a bit. Anyone have any suggestions? You can either e-mail me (and I'll post it) or put it in the comments!
Steve,
My wife is a big fan of motorcycles. Being 5'0" tall and 100 lbs she's pretty limited in selection, even more limited when you find out she loves sport bikes and isn't very interested in much else. Cruisers are definitely out, and other categories of bikes typically don't meet her performance and beauty/form requirements. The biggest bike she's owned is a lowered Kawasaki Ex500. She's ready for her next ride, Kawasaki redesigned the 250 and dropped the 500. We're having a lot of trouble finding anything that wouldn't need to be lowered so much that the handling is compromised, but still has more power than the lawnmower. (no offense to smaller bikes, we love them, handling is unmatched, we're just looking for something specific here)
I'm very much a fan of your blog, and am wondering if you're willing to ask your audience for recommendations on what her options are. Are there 500cc or greater sport/sporty bikes out there that a little'n like my wife can handle? Once she gets moving she's a highly skilled rider, but she needs to feel comfortable stopping, walking, and maneuvering the bike with her little frame. What are we missing?
Thanks a ton!,
Matt (and Beth, though she doesn't know it yet)
from Fort Collins, Colorado
Really, I can't say enough how impressed I am with the diversity and craftsmanship of the bikes you post. It's been a continuous source of inspiration for my own projects. Thank you.

Growing and Growing and Growing!
I continue to be amazed at how this casual little hobby of mine has grown.
More than ever I want to thank all of you for stopping by and more importantly for all your help in making this place grow. I haven't checked the numbers but I'm pretty sure that my single biggest source of material is now coming from reader submittals! So in a very real sense, this site is as much (or more) yours than mine. And for those of you that have asked I'm still having a ball. Sure there are days I get distracted with work and family and such but I'm a long way from burnt out. So please keep sending them in and Thanks!.

Saw this today on a popular message board. Classic!
For Those of you who spend time on motorcycle message boards you'll get a kick out of this.
How many motorcycle forum members does it take to change a light bulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
6 to argue over whether it’s “lightbulb” or “light bulb” …
another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is “lamp”
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that “light bulb” is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs
15 People to post “I can’t see S$%^!” and their own light bulbs
7 to post URL’s where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL’s were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL’s
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add “Me too”
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say “didn’t we go through this already a short time ago?”
13 to say “do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs”
1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that George W. isn’t the brightest bulb.
4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views.
1 moderator to lock the light bulb thread.
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

By The Way. Thanks To everyone for the "Five Favorites" Feedback!
Thanks To everyone for the "Five Favorites" Feedback! I'm going to do a little digging into the bikes that folks submitted and comment on it later. Maybe pull some of the interestng choices and see what I can come up with by way of images. I think we'll do something on a Five Favorite "anything goes" (as opposed to production bikes only) thread sometime next week so give it some thought and please stay tuned.

Updated Comments: Shoutout to my readers! What's on your five favorite production bikes of all time list?
A few observations, RC30's are more popular than I thought and I'm not alone in my love of old 2 strokes
Since I've started my five all time favorite production bikes series I figured I put out a request for what the readers like. I'll keep this post pinned to the top and copy and paste your choices as they come in one by one. Here is what I'd like to do, Either respond to this post in the comments section or E-mail me directly at superduckz@gmail.com
Give your name (full or first name only if that's all you're comfortable with) and your five bikes listed

A great Big Apology...
I'd like to make a great big apology to those readers of mine who have been complaining about a lot of photo's that simply would NOT display for them either in the post or when clicked on. I was having no real trouble getting to them from my end so I assumes there was some strange browser settings out there that may have been causing problems on the end users.
Well I finally figured out what the problem was. Google just sort of took it upon themselves to change the security settings on my two oldest Picassa albums such that you needed a "direct link" to view the images. This caused a good portion of about the first 2 years (or so) of posts to no longer display images.
I believe I've taken care of the problem but if you run across any issues please let me know. Thanks for your patience!

Took a look today at the site stats and noticed that the it's averaged just over one thousand hits a day for the last month (well few months really but it totaled out evenly this month). In my wildest dreams I never imagined it would ever get rolling like this. With all the reader contributions lately I feel like it's as much your site as mine. So keep em coming folks! Good lord. This is just sooooo wrong....
Sorry. I love bikes and all that but this is too much. You're just going to have to go to Jalopnik to read "the rest of the story" on this one.

Just noticed.... 200,000 visits!
Things have been growing at a pretty good clip around here and I didn't notice the count as we passed 200,000 visits. I'd be remiss if I didn't give a great big THANK YOU you to everyone for stopping by and especially for all the great pictures that folks have been sending in. A lot of the credit for the success of this site goes to the readers. You've been making my job a lot easier lately with all the great submissions. Thank you VERY much and please keep em coming!

Leaps and Bounds!
Wow! What a month!! I got a great link from Pipeburn (GREAT site. Please please check them out) and had a nice predictable spike in traffic but an aweful lot of folks must have stuck around because there's been a pretty steady gain in traffic since then. A very sincere thank you to everyone for stopping by and welcome to all the new readers. I hope you're finding it as interesting as I find it fun!

WOW! TRAFFIC HAS EXPLODED TODAY!!
Took a look at sitmeter and noticed that traffic has exploded the last few days. I know that I got a link form the always excellent Pipeburn on the CB550 post which must have accounted for most of it.
I don't catch all the back-links so please consider this a Great Big Thanks to you gents and anyone and everyone else who has linked and/or stopped by. If you're new to the site please take a look around. There are certain "tendencies" to the posts but I do think we've got something for everyone. Cheers!
Steve Ducharme.

Almost 17,000 visits Last Month! Thanks For Stopping by!
I've said it before... I continue to be amazed how this little hobby of mine continues to grow! Things slowed down a little for the holidays (which speaks to the good sense and proper priorities of the visitors to this site) and then took another nice surge in January. I sure hope you're enjoying it as much as I am.
And remember that I'm always on the hunt for interesting bikes to post so if you have any then send in some pics! Anything cool. Old or new, slow or fast... doesn't matter. If you want to include a description or build history (or whatever) that's great too! The higher resolution the photo the better. I can adjust down but I can't put in what isn't there.
Thanks for stopping by everybody!
